Outlook preview pane

I came across an issue today.

It's very unusual for me to say anything negative about Notes, but in this case I was pretty dissapointed.

For the first time in 15 years of working with the software I love, I had to give up. Yes, Notes has a problem.

I can feel your astonishment from here. Yep, I'm admitting that there is something Notes can't do.

Open the preview pane, open the doument loaded in the preview pane, and try deleting the open document.

Error.

What?

Nothing that you can fix with code. Nothing you can error trap. Just an Error. And a stupid prompt saying you just can't do it!

I came across this trying to implement a solution for a client that they had given up on.

And in the end, so did I.

Why didn't I pick up on this before, because I don't use the preview pane, but I know there are some people out there who do. And for those people (especially those coming from the dark-side product) this is a biggie. Because they have become used to using the preview pane.

So what if it's a backward way of looking at information. It's a feature of the product, and it is broken.

'Nuff said.

On a positive note, it's now only 11 days to my migration. I'm going to miss Windows Explorer and the constant crashing and bul***it that goes with using the OS from the dark-side. Not.

Notes and Staroffice, with VMware so I can run my Adobe apps. YAY!

11 days and counting...
