My wife has recently started working for a new company.
They use Outlook.
Yes, I know you can feel me shudder from wherever you are. She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed declared that she now preferred "that other product", since she had grown accustomed to having the preview pane on the right-hand-side of the screen. "It's much better for reading email", SWMBO declared.
"OK" - I thought, "How can I retreive this situation before I am forced to install an Outlook client on MY network?"
Simple answer. We use Notes. It has a design client that can change the way virtually ANY Lotus Notes database works - including Mail.
Copy and paste the Mail Frame-set, call it "Mail Frameset - Right", change the "Interior Mail Frameset" so that it computes it's content based on a new field in the Mail Profile (CalendarProfile) document to use either the traditional "Preview at Bottom", or the newly customised "Preview on Right". Add field to profile form, open mail in client, set preference for "Preview on Right" or "Preview at Bottom" and away we go!

SWMBO looks at the newly redesigned Mail layout and declares:
"That looks much better. Can I keep it like that?"
"Sure honey - for you ... Anything!"
5 minutes work. Didn't have to wait for Lotus to deliver "what the client wanted". Don't have to install Outlook(phew!)
Must admit though, I have used the "preview on right" feature for a few day's now, and have to agree with SWMBO - on a large screen the "preview on right" feature is a nice customisation to the mail template. Roll-on Notes 8 so everyone can have it!
